The mission of the Society of Jesus in the 21st century is “the service of faith that does justice in collaboration with others”.
In this context, the Society envisions collaboration with fellow-humans across cultures, religions and nationalities
to be a new way of being Jesuit.
The ease of digital communication, jet travel and the ongoing encounters of cultures,
necessarily shrink frontiers and internationalize societies.
We re-discover our common roots as human beings while celebrating our diversities.
We become more present to one another and claim kinship and fellowship.
The newly created Secretariat for Collaboration affirms the value of Jesuit collaboration with fellow-Jesuits,
as well as with all women and men of good-will.
We believe the globalized world confronts us with the challenge of collaboration
since Jesuits are both “men for others and men with others”.
Be our partner in this exciting enterprise!

For the ecumenical and interreligious relations these Advisors have been appointed. They constitute the Secretariat for Ecumenical & Inter-religious Relations for the Society. The Secretariat is a consultative group conversant with the ongoing relations among diverse faith communities. Each advisor remains in his present work and location rather than moving to Rome. All the advisors gather in Rome once a year to meet together with Father General for discussions on developments in ecumenism and interreligious relations, and the Society's involvement in them. Every advisor is appointed for three years.
