The last two years have seen the development within the Society of what we call the Global Ignatian Advocacy Networks (GIAN). The five existing networks are centered on Ecology, Right to Education, Governance of Natural and Mineral Resources, Migration, and Peace and Human Rights. This issue is completely dedicated to the Global Ignatian Advocacy Networks. Along with other articles, it includes the position documents of these networks and a summary of what they are currently doing where their plans for the future can also be found.

In this issue of Promotio Iustitiae, you will find an overview of the state of the democracy in the world, through the efforts of six jesuits, coming from each of the six jesuit Conferences: Latin America, North America, Europe, Africa, South Asia and Asia Pacific, in order to offer a general outline of the democratic health of our societies.

This issue, jointly brought out by SJES and CLC, tries to deepen our understanding of justice today within our shared Ignatian perspective. CLC and the Society of Jesus share a common desire to promote Justice. This is done through discernment, reflections on the meaning of justice in different circumstances and through concrete initiatives in mission.

Last May, the annual meeting of the social coordinators of the conferences was held in Rome. The document referred to in this new edition of Promotio Iustitiae constitutes the minutes of this meeting The text deals with two questions: how are we responding to the promotion of justice in the Society and what are the universal apostolic challenges facing the Society today.
