Elections and getting down to business
Today, the members of the Congregation have elected the Secretary, Fr Mark Rotsaert from Belgium, and his two Assistants (Frs Ignacio Echarte, Loyola/Spain and Thomas Smolich, California/USA) for the rest of their work together. These three members will take charge of the running of the sessions.
A group of members called "Deputatio ad negotia" has also been elected; it is in charge of the presentation of the topics to be discussed: Frs Jean-Roger Pascal Ndombi (West Africa/Cameroon), Ernesto Cavassa (Peru), Arturo Sosa (Venezuela), George Pattery (Calcutta/India), Daniel Huang (Philippines), János Lukács (Hungary), Lluís Magriñà (Tarragon/Spain), François-Xavier Dumortier (France), Frantisek Hylmar (Czech Republic/Bohemia), Thomas Smolich (California/USA). This afternoon, the group has made some first proposals regarding the topics for discussion during the rest of the Congregation.
