North America - Human Rights Dialogue with Aura Minerals
Midwest Jesuits and Jesuits of English Canada held their third shareholder dialogue with Aura Minerals on January 15, 2016 in Toronto. The Jesuit team, which also includes the Mercy Sisters and two university faculty, are making the case for the establishment of a corporate Human Rights policy. In consultation with Jesuits in Honduras, they are addressing human rights concerns with Aura's industrial gold mine in western Honduras, which is the largest operational industrial mine in the country.
