Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you will do with your evenings, how you will spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in love, stay in love and it will decide everything.

Superior General of the Society of Jesus 1961-1984
What do Jesuits do?
They teach
and run schools at all
levels, all over the
world: from great universities
in the major cities
of the developed world
to popular education
in slums and rural areas
of the developing world.
They lead people in
a prayerful search for
God’s presence in their
lives through the retreats
known as the Spiritual
Exercises, and they
support the apostolic
energy that this search
for God unleashes in
people.
They record
radio programs, write
books and publish magazines; they produce television
programs and have taken
to the internet with
an enthusiasm that would
surpise no one who knows
the Jesuit history of
finding new ways to
perform the ministry
of the Word.
They also care for
basic needs of those
who suffer from poverty
while studying the causes
of that poverty and
working actively as
advocates for a more
just world.
You will
find young university
graduates who are giving
one or two years of
volunteer service, and
people at the other
end of their working
careers who who offer
their help as volunteers
after they retire.
You
will find great seriousness
of purpose and a compassionate
sense of humor that
recognizes our human
weakness as we strive
to serve under the banner
of Christ, seeking to
respond to God's call
in today's world.
