Bibliography of the History of the Society of Jesus

The “Bibliography on the History of the Society of Jesus” was first produced for Archivum Historicum Societatis Iesu by László Polgár SJ, spanning fifty issues of the journal, between 1952 and 2001.

The Bibliography was resumed in 2006, by Paul Begheyn SJ. In order to provide continuity with Fr Polgár’s work, it incorporates titles dated from 2000. Entries are divided into three sections: I. The entire Society; II. Countries; III. Persons. An Index of authors concludes the Bibliography.

The entire Bibliography is available online, including:

  • the three bibliographical volumes by László Polgár SJ to 1980
  • Polgàr’s annual Bibliography from 1980 to 2001;
  • The Bibliography by Paul Begheyn SJ from 2006 to 2018 and after 2018 by Wenceslao Soto SJ (these are available for download in a single file comprising all bibliographies presented consecutively. To maximise the utility of this resource, especially its search functions, it is recommended to download the file as a PDF (over 8000 pages, 440mb).

You can also download the single volumes:
